Using the Competitive Ad Filter enables you to block competitor’s ads from appearing on your pages. Google allows you to enter up to 200 URLs. Most people who use Competitive Ad Filter are AdWords advertisers, but even the people who don’t advertise through AdWords should be using it.
What are the reasons?
1. MFA – this is an abbreviation of Made For AdSense sites. These sites have almost no content and the only reason they exist is to make money from Google AdSense. MFA’s page consists of only a headline and ads.
How does a MFA site affect your AdSense income?
Advertising from Google AdSense and other PPC services generates traffic to MFA sites. These sites offer a really low CPC rate so they can get the traffic as cheap as possible. Here’s how it works:
An MFA site bids the minimum amount on a keyword on your site. The ad from the MFA site shows up on your site. Reader clicks on the ad to visit MFA site and you make 1 to 5 cents. MFA site consists only of ads. Reader leaves by clicking on an ad and MFA site makes $1 or more. Not all readers will click on an ad but enough will for the MFA site to make 50% to 500% return.
There is a great site that identifies MFA sites and it's called ADS BLACK LIST. It's free to join and easy to use!

2. Competition – If you’re extensively advertising an affiliate program, there is a big chance that it will attract ads promoting that exact affiliate program. I had a similar experience with Agloco. After I put Agloco banners on my blog, my pages where filed with Agloco referral ads. That’s where Competitive Ad Filter comes in handy. You don’t want to be loosing referrals to your competition, so use Competitive Ad Filter and increase your commissions!

If you're not an affiliate marketer though, wouldn't you be blocking out a potentially higher paying ad? Google conducts an auction to display the highest paying ad, so if I blocked ads, I'd be receiving lower paying ads and LOSING money, wouldn't I?

Yes, that's true. But if you can make more cash from the affiliate program, small loss of AdSense revenue doesn't matter.
You might want to fix your link above.
Good deal, but how do we find the most recently added MFA sites?
Think I'll go Google that..
Thanks Paula for the heads up, I was also searching for MFA identification tools, no success so far :(
Some people publish blacklists of sites. You can usually find them on Digital Point forums.
